2023 Wood Diamond Award Exterior Millwork Dibbleville Woodworks First Place
Dibbleville Woodworks is a small custom residential cabinet shop specializing in kitchens.
Describe your project, what makes it unusual, and/or any outstanding characteristics.
This was a rewarding project to work on. This is our City park gazebo that was originally built in the late 70's by a group of volunteers. It is probably one of the most recognized and used areas in a town. The original gazebo was constructed out of old growth redwood. Unfortunately over the last 50 years or so it had deteriorated quite significantly. The main difficulty was the fact that old growth redwood really is not an option to use for restoration. We were able to just refurbish some of the smaller pieces but basically had to rebuild the main gazebo. We ended up using Mahogany for all the large fretwork panels and the molded pieces and Ipe for the spindles and floor that take abuse.
List any items that were outsourced.
Thankfully, we did not have to do anything to the copper roof or the 8 main redwood posts.
